Lost World Outdoor Performance – This Weekend

Posted on August 20, 2010

On Saturday, August 21, the Richmond Neighborhood Association, Filmusik, and Portland Parks & Recreation team up to present the 1925 silent film classic Lost World at Sewallcrest Park (SE Market St and 32nd Ave) to take the Movies in the Parks program in an entirely new and exciting direction. In proper Filmusik fashion, this is no ordinary movie, with a live soundtrack performed by the Filmusik Chamber Orchestra with voice actors and sound effects to bring the film to life. Willamette Radio Workshop will provide the newly narrated track and dialog and Drammy award winning Foley artist David Ian will magically create all the booms, bangs and roars with an arsenal of movie sound props. This is a one-night-only performance in which to hear claymation Pterodactyls and other dinosaurs come to life.

“Just think Charlie Chaplin meets Jurrassic Park with a live orchestra and voice-overs”  It’s the noisest silent film ever screened.  It will be something like going to the drive-in except with dinosaurs instead of cars!!
